TSU Suspends All Athletic Activities

OVC Release

NASHVILLE --- Athletics Director Teresa Phillips announced Friday morning the university department of athletics, effective immediately, will suspend athletic-related activities including all competition, and formal practices indefinitely in sight of the widespread threats of the corona virus (COVID-19).

Thursday morning, the university announced suspension of in-person instruction, moving all classes online until further notice, beginning Monday, March 16. The NCAA announced that all remaining winter and spring championships have been canceled. The Ohio Valley Conference Board of Presidents announced all athletic related activities involving member institutions have been suspended until further notice.

"The indefinite suspension of intercollegiate athletics is a necessary action during this world health pandemic," said Phillips. "The health and well-being of our student-athletes, coaches, staff and everyone involved is the top priority. We will continue to seek guidance from the OVC, University leadership, health experts and local authorities in making decisions."
