MYRTLE BEACH, S.C.  --- The Tennessee State women’s track and field team wrapped up action at the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium in Myrtle Beach, S.C. on Saturday. The Tigerbelles came away with a number of strong performances in field events and on the track.

TSU swept the top three spots in the triple jump led by Cyra Beard’s winning distance of 12.09m (39’8”). She was followed by fellow Tigerbelles Gabrielle Younginer in second in 11.88m (38’11.75”) and Angel Horton in third with a mark of11.87m (38’11.5”).

In the shot put, Mikayla Thompson set a new personal record with a distance of 15.34m (50’4”) to earn first place.

On the track, Kyla Jimmar picked up a second-place finish in the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.51.

Next up for TSU is the Weems Baskin Invitational in Columbia, S.C. – scheduled for March 23-24.
