Tigerbelles Shine on Day One of the Outdoor Season

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. --- Highlighted by Cyra Beard winning the high jump, the Tennessee State women's track and field team delivered a solid opening to the outdoor season on Friday at the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium.

Beard was the lone competitor to clear the high jump bar set at 1.75m (5'8.75") to take first place overall.

Amani Taylor was TSU's next top finisher, taking 4th in the hammer throw with a distance of 51.37m (168'6.75").

TSU picked up two fifth-place finishes courtesy of Kasandra Sanders and Hannah Alsup on Friday. Sanders posted a 26.67 finish in the 200m in her outdoor debut. Alsup's hammer throw distance of 48.20m (158'2") was also good for fifth.

Action at the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational wraps up tomorrow.
