BIRMINGHAM --- Completing action in Birmingham, Ala., the Tennessee State women’s track and field team finished with a number of strong performances at the Vulcan Invitational on Saturday at the Birmingham CrossPlex.

In the weight throw, Daimer Gordon produced a season best by reaching 18.20m (59’8.5”). Also in the throws, freshman Mikayla Thompson continued her standout rookie campaign by earning seventh in the shot put with a distance of 13.60m (44’7.5”).

Another freshman Jalyn Bowen had a season-best performance in the high jump. Bowen cleared 1.64m (5’4.5”), which was good for a tie for sixth place on Saturday.

The Tigerbelles are back in action for the Thundering Herd Invitational on Jan. 26-27 in Huntington, W.Va.
