TSU Wraps up Weems Baskin Invitational


COLUMBIA, S.C. --- The Tennessee State women’s track and field team concluded action at the Weems Baskin Invitational on Saturday with a number of standout performances.

In the 100m hurdles, senior All-American Amber Hughes (Atlanta, Ga.) captured second place overall, clocking in at 13.42. The second-place finish was the best for the Tigerbelles on the day.

Cyra Beard (Jackson, Tenn.) cleared 1.68m (5’6”) on her third attempt in the high jump to pick up a fifth-place finish. TSU also placed three in the top nine of Saturday’s triple jump headlined by Beard’s sixth-place mark of 11.68m (38’4”).

On the track, Crystal Williams (Gainesville, Fla.) also had a strong performance in the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.17. Christian Pryor (Ellenwood, Ga.) set a personal record in the 400m with a time of 56.15, while Raven Davis (Junction City, Kan.) had an 11.96 finish in the 100m.

The 4x100m relay team of Hughes, Williams, Davis and Tiffany Barnes (Atlanta, Ga.) took seventh in 46.37.

Next up for the Tigerbelles are the Pepsi Florida Relays in Gainesville, Fla. on March 30-April 1.
