MURFREESBORO, Tenn. --- The Tennessee State women’s track and field team continued the indoor season at the MTSU Invite on Saturday at the Murphy Center. Amber Hughes (Atlanta, Ga.) and Daimer Gordon (Ellenwood, Ga.) earned victories in their events on the day.

Hughes turned in the day’s best time in the 55m, clocking in at 7.09. Hughes also took second in the 400m, finishing with a time of 55.49. The time is the second best in the OVC this season and Hughes’ first time running the open 400m since last year’s indoor season.

Gordon was victorious in the shot put thanks to a personal record distance of 12.37m (40’7”). The distance ranks her 12th in the OVC this season. Fellow Tigerbelle Chy’enne LeNeair (Racine, Wisc.) secured second place on the day with a throw of 11.96m (39’3”).

In the women’s weight throw, Gordon’s distance of 16.81m (55’2”) was good for second place in the field. The distance came on her first throw of the day.

Picking up another second-place finish on the track was Christian Pryor (Ellenwood, Ga.) with a time of 2:22.32 in the 800m.

Next up for the Tigerbelles is the Music City Challenge at Vanderbilt on Feb. 10-11.
