STARTING LINE: TSU rising senior Amber Hughes (Atlanta, Ga.) will attempt to qualify for the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio as she competes in the triple jump at the US Olympic Trials in Eugene, Ore. The last Tigerbelle to compete in the Olympic Trials was Dominique Ward-Holmes in the 400m in 2008. 

SCHEDULE: The qualifying round for the triple jump is scheduled for Monday, July 4, at 4:15 p.m. The finals are set for Thursday, July 7, at 6:30 p.m. 

HOW SHE GOT HERE: Hughes met the Olympic Trials qualifying mark of 13.40m thanks to her distance of 13.46m (44'2") at the Memphis Invitational. She also went on to post a wind-aided distance of 13.50m (44'3.5") to take fifth place at the NCAA East Preliminary Round in Jacksonville, Fla. in May. 

QUALIFYING: In order to qualify for the Olympics, Hughes will have to finish in the top four in the competition and meet the Olympic qualifying standard of 14.15m. 

RIO: The 2016 Summer Olympics are scheduled for Aug. 5-21 in Brazil.
