Georgia Tech Invite up Next for TSU

STARTING LINE: The TSU women’s track and field team will travel to Atlanta, Ga. for the two-day Georgia Tech Invite on April 22-23 at the George G. Griffin Track & Field Facility.

THE SCHEDULE: Friday’s schedule begins with the hammer at 11 a.m. with running events kicking off at 5 p.m. with the women’s 100m hurdles. Saturday's action begins with the high jump at 11 a.m. and the 4x100m relay at 1 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT: At last week’s APSU Invitational, Angel Davis (Decateur, Ga.) picked up first-place finishes in the shot put (13.26m) and the discus (42.70m). Adding top finishes were Crystal Williams (Gainesville, Fla.) in the 100m hurdles (13.99) and Clairwin Dameus (Boynton Beach, Fla.) in the 400m hurdles (59.80) and long jump (6.19m).

LEADING THE OVC: Individuals from TSU have posted the top performances in the OVC in a number of different events. Clairwin Dameus (Boynton Beach, Fla.) has the league’s best finishes in the 200m (23.93), 400m hurdles (59.80), long jump (6.32m) and the heptathlon (5,729 points). Amber Hughes (Atlanta, Ga.) turned in the OVC’s best 100m hurdle time of 13.40, while the Tigerbelles have the top times in the 4x100m relay (45.93) and the 4x400m relay (3:39.01).

UP NEXT: The next event on the schedule for TSU is the Ohio Valley Conference Outdoor Championship on May 13-14. Tennessee State will serve as the host for the event, which will take place at the Edward S. Temple Track on campus.
