Women's Tennis Dropped First OVC Match to Murray State

NASHVILLE --- In the season's first Ohio Valley Conference match, the Tennessee State women's tennis team fell 7-0 to the Murray State Racers Friday afternoon at Hadley Park.

Murray State clinched the doubles point, defeating all three TSU duos. Pragati Natraj and Claudia Sole put up the largest battle winning four games on court two before the Racers finished out the match, 6-4.

Big Blue moved onto singles play, hoping for a turnaround. Natraj proved a challenge for Stasya Sharapova at No. 2, winning a total of nine games over the course of two sets, finally dropping the point, 6-4, 7-5.

Aarushi Kakkar was the last on the court, fighting to push the match at No. 1 to a third, tiebreaker set. Kakkar dropped the first set, 6-2. The sophomore made the correct adjustments in set two, improving her chances. Down just one game, 6-5, Chang finished the sweep of TSU with a 6-2, 7-5 score.

Tennessee State tennis has a busy weekend as it heads to Austin Peay for a 10 a.m. match tomorrow morning and returns home Sunday, March 24 to host fellow HBCU Alabama A&M.
