SPRINGFIELD, Mo. --- Pragati Natraj completed the final day of the Missouri State Invitational with a third place finish Sunday at the Cooper Tennis Complex.
Sophomore Aarushi Kakkar also defeated SEMO’s Krupa for a sixth place finish in the number two singles draw, 4-6, 6-4, 10-2.
“It was a good tournament for us,” said Coach Walker. “We needed to play competition from SEC schools and up to get better. Aarushi closed out the tournament with a huge win over a conference foe. She battled back after losing the first set and never gave up. She earned it. Pragati finishing top three shows the work she has been putting in. She beat a lot of good girls. Overall, we’ve got to have more heart and belief as a team. We have to know we can play with these schools and win. I look forward to a great spring season.”
The tournament served as the last of the fall season. The women’s team will be back in action Jan. 25 in Memphis, Tenn. as they take on Mississippi Valley State at the Whitehaven Tennis Center.
