STARTING SERVE: Tennessee State tennis closes the fall season this weekend as the women’s team travels to Springfield, Mo. for the Missouri State Invitational beginning Friday, Oct. 26 and running through Sunday, Oct. 28.
LAST TIME OUT: The Tigers opened its fall schedule against Christian Brothers at home earlier in the month. The veteran team along with newcomers Mackenzie Beckham (Chicago, Ill.) and Claudia Sole (Valls, Spain), went undefeated through two doubles matches and five singles matches. Senior Pragati Natraj (No. 4) and junior Ashia Jones (No. 5) each defeated their Bucs opponent, 6-0, 6-0. Natraj joined Beckham at the number one doubles position, replacing long-term partner and former Tiger Ani Popiashvili for a close 7-5 victory. Morgan Cage and Jones paired up for a number two doubles win, 6-0, building on their career record, 3-11 overall.
UP NEXT: The Invitational marks the end of the fall season for TSU women’s tennis. The spring season will kickoff Jan. 25 as the Tigers take on Mississippi Valley State in Memphis, Tennessee at the Whitehaven Tennis Center.
