STARTING SERVE: The Tennessee State wo­men’s tennis team will host fellow HBCU Alabama State Sunday, Feb. 11 at 11 a.m. at the Currey Tennis Center.  

LAST TIME OUT: The Tigers trekked to Memphis, Tenn. for the second time this spring to play the LeMoyne-Owen Magicians at the Whitehaven Tennis Center. In the midweek matchup, Big Blue took over early in the pro set, winning 7-2. Atlanta natives Morgan Cage and Phoenix Gandy paired up at No. 1 to snatch a quick point with an 8-0 win. Freshman Aarushi Kakkar and her partner Abhilasha Vishwanath did the same. The Tigers continued to shut out the Magicians in singles play, giving up two points to defaults.

SCOUTING ALABAMA STATE: The Lady Hornets are looking for its first win of the season. In the last meet up with ASU, the Tigers fell 7-0. In its last match, the Lady Hornets fell 4-3 to West Alabama. Junior Lea Krajcovicova picked up one-of-three wins for ASU, beating 6-0, 6-1.

UP NEXT: The women will host Mississippi Valley State Friday, Feb. 16 at Centennial for an afternoon doubleheader at 2 p.m., and again at 5 p.m.
