NASHVILLE --- Tennessee State’s women’s tennis team is headed to the Adams Tennis Complex in Murfreesboro, Tenn. for the 2017 ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championships Presented by Oracle Oct. 12-16.

This will be the second year in school history the team will compete in the tournament. The top 64 players in the Ohio Valley region, including a few of the top programs in the country such as Vanderbilt, Kentucky, Tennessee and Louisville will compete for a chance to play in the ITA Nationals in New York.

Abhilasha Vishwanath, Ani Popiashvili, Pragati Natraj, Aarushi Kakkar, Ashia Jones, Phoenix Gandy and Morgan Cage will travel.

In last year’s regional tournament, Ani Popiashvili (Tbilisi, Georgia) advanced to the final round of the consolation division before defeating Lipscomb’s Jaclyn Findlay.

Admission is free to the public for all ITA Ohio Valley Regional matches at Adams Tennis Complex.

The ITA OVC Regionals will complete fall tennis for the Tigers. Play will resume Feb. 2 against Rhodes.
