ATLANTA --- The Tennessee State women’s tennis team opened the fall campaign with a great first and second day at the annual HBCU Tennis Championships at the Clayton County Tennis Center.

On day one and two, the Tigers registered 10 singles victories. The Tigers had three singles players make it to the semi-finals, two of which will compete for the championship title tomorrow, and two teams will compete in the doubles semi-finals tomorrow.

Aarushi Kakkar began her collegiate career with an upset over #2 Ariel Dickson. She continued to win in flight C, and will compete for the Flight C championship on Saturday.

In the A Flight doubles Ashia Jones and Morgan Cage lost their match with an 8-5 score. Pragati Natraj and Ani Popiashvili advanced to the semi-finals, where they will take on Aarushi Kakkar and Abhilasha Vishwanath after combining for five wins beating Howard, FAMU, Johnson C. Smith, Shaw and Manon Bonada of Xavier in the B Flight doubles.

The HBCU Championships conclude tomorrow.
