SETTING THE STAGE: The Tigers women’s team will compete in a dual match against Mississippi Valley State twice on Saturday.

LAST TIME OUT: The women’s tennis team started the spring season 2-0 with wins over Mckendree and Quincy. Tennessee State defeated Mckendree 9-0 before taking Quincy down by a 4-1 score. TSU used a full team effort with five Tigers going undefeated in play throughout the weekend. Doubles play fueled the women’s team by winning every doubles match played last Friday. Ani Popiashvili, Abhilasha Vishwanath, Pragati NatrajPhyllicia Hemphill, and Ashia Jones all managed to leave Illinois without a lost to start their seasons.

SCOUTING MISSISSIPPI VALLEY: Mississippi Valley comes into the match with a 1-0 record after defeating Rust College 7-1. Riley Murry enters his first season at the helm of the tennis program.

UP NEXT: The Tigers will take on Cumberland Thursday Feb. 23 in Nashville.
