OPENING SERVE: Tennessee State, which will play two road OVC matches coming up, has gone 4-3 in its last seven matches, taking down Fisk, Belmont, LeMoyne-Owen and Rhodes during the stretch. Freshman Abhilasha Vishwanath (Bangalore, India) and sophomore Phyllicia Hemphill (Nashville, Tenn.) have both won three of their last four singles matches for the Tigers.

LAST TIME OUT: The Tigers went 1-1 on March 26 with a 6-0 loss to EKU and a 7-0 win against Fisk. TSU won the four singles matches in straight sets against Fisk. Winning on the day for singles were Pragati Natraj (Bangalore, India), Abhilasha Vishwanath (Bangalore, India), Phyllicia Hemphill (Nashville, Tenn.) and Blair Moses (Memphis, Tenn.).

ABOUT SIUE: Winners of three in a row, SIUE is 11-4 on the year and 3-1 in the conference. The Cougars boast two players with 20-plus singles wins this season in Madeline Hill (24 wins) and Mia Frogner (22 wins). As a team, SIUE has gone 57-23 in doubles play and has lost the doubles point just twice this season.

ABOUT EASTERN ILLINOIS: Led by Grace Summers’ 12-1 singles record, EIU has gone 9-5 on the year with a 3-1 Ohio Valley Conference mark. The Panthers have won 77.8 percent of their doubles matches (28-8) led by the Summers/Hannah Kimbrough duo posting a 10-3 record at the top slot.

OVC PRESEASON POLL: SIUE received four first-place votes to take the top spot in the OVC preseason poll. Murray State and EKU were picked 2-3, also picking up first-place votes. UT Martin, Eastern Illinois and Morehead State rounded out the top six vote getters. The rest of the poll concluded with Austin Peay, Jacksonville State, Belmont, Southeast Missouri and Tennessee State.
