Women's Tennis Downed by Northern Kentucky

CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. – Abhilasha Vishwanath (Bangalore, India) earned a singles victory to highlight the Tennessee State women’s tennis team’s effort in a 5-2 road loss versus Northern Kentucky at the Five Seasons Sports Club.

The Tigers dropped the doubles point as the Norse took a 1-0 advantage. In singles, NKU earned victories at the No. 1, 2, 3 and 5 positions.

“The girls have to figure some things out,” TSU Head Coach Monroe Walker III said. “I think they see now that competition is only going to get better, and they can’t be happy with previous success. Abhilasha played a great match and battled hard. She didn’t back down and got a great win. I expect the ladies to step it up.”

Vishwanath paired with Taylor Patterson (Munford, Tenn.) in a close 7-5 loss at No. 2 doubles.

In singles, Vishwanath picked up a straight-set victory at the No. 4 slot, defeating Nicole Soutar, 6-2, 6-1.

TSU will return to action on March 5 for a road match at Rhodes in Memphis, Tenn.
