Women's Tennis Has Strong Day Two at HBCU Championships

COLLEGE PARK, Ga. – The Tennessee State women’s tennis team completed another strong day at the HBCU Championships at the South Fulton Tennis Center on Friday. The Tigers have two singles players in the finals tomorrow as well as a doubles team in the semifinals.

“I’m happy with the way we competed today,” TSU Head Coach Monroe Walker III said. “I knew the competition would be tough. We showed fight and came out on top for some and others fell a little short. I’m excited about the last day tomorrow to see what we can do.”

It will be an all TSU final for the C Flight singles consolation bracket tomorrow with sophomore Phyllicia Hemphill taking on junior Taylor Patterson. Hemphill defeated Bluefield State’s Marta Briales, 8-2, in the consolation quarterfinals and added an 8-2 win over Angelica Ochoe from North Carolina A&T in the consolation semifinals.
