TSU Takes on Belmont

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee State’s Trinity Randolph had the match of the day, but the women’s tennis team fell to Belmont at home on Wednesday, 6-0.

Randolph was dominant in the first set, drilling powerful serves and making BU’s Nikki Maciel run all over the court. Her performance earned her a 6-2 set victory.

In the second set, Randolph was up again, but a late surge by her opponent put the score, 7-5, in the Bruins’ favor. With both teams looking on and cheering after every point, Randolph came up just shy in the tiebreaker, 10-7.

Victoria Haynes also had a solid showing playing in the No. 1 spot, but lost 6-2, 6-2. Jade Daniels was defeated, 6-1, 6-1, and Adrianne Presley and Attallah Eiland both fell, 6-0, 6-0.

Belmont won the final point by defeating Daniels and Presley, 8-2.

The Tigers’ next contest is this Friday at home against Lipscomb.
