Women's Tennis Falls in Season Finale to Tennessee Tech

Nashville, Tenn. – The Tennessee State University women's tennis team dropped their final match of the 2009 in Ohio Valley Conference play to Tennessee Tech, 7-0, Saturday afternoon at the TSU Tennis Complex.

The Tigers finish 0-12 overall and 0-9 in the OVC. TTU improves to 8-7, 7-2 in the OVC.

In her final match at TSU, senior Dania Lofton dropped the No. 6 to Diana Woodcock, 6-4, 6-0. Lofton finishes the season with the Tigers best singles record at 5-6.

TSU dropped the doubles point with an 8-0, 8-1, 8-0 loss in the No. 1, 2 and 3 three matches.

In the singles match, TSU lost six sets by the score of 6-0. Meagan Haynes dropped the No. 1 play to Kelly Holthausen, 6-1, 6-0. In No. 2, Penelope Johnson comeback was held short falling to Katie Barnhill 6-0, 6-3.

As a result of their conference record, the Tigers are eliminated from play in the 2009 OVC Tennis Championship hosted by Eastern Kentucky to be held April 17-19 in Paducah, Ky.
