Tennis Unable to Break Skid Against Eastern Kentucky

Nashville, Tenn. – The Tennessee State University women's tennis team were unable to gather their first win of the season against a tough Eastern Kentucky team dropping the match 6-0 in conference play at the TSU Tennis Complex.

The Tigers post an overall 0-6 record and 0-4 in Ohio Valley Conference play. In the cold and windy morning, the women tallied three points in games played. Due to weather, doubles play was post poned.

Eastern Kentucky moves to 15-5 overall and 4-0 in the OVC picking up their fourth straight win.

TSU dropped four games in two sets by the score of 6-0, 6-0. The Tigers number one player Meagan Haynes dropped her match-up to Alex Stinikova while Penelope Johnson hung tough but fell to the Colonels' Myriem Mhirit (23-4), 6-1, 6-1.

Tierra Sharpe, Lia Stewart and Melissa Martin could not garner any wins to help pull the Tigers out of the slump surrendering the third, fourth and fifth games. In the final singles play, Dania Lofton dropped an 8-1 decision to Alyze Pagal.

The Tigers will continue OVC play when they travel to Jacksonville, Ala. to play Jacksonville State on Tuesday, March 31st. The rescheduled match is scheduled for 1:30 pm.
