Tigers Place 10th at Jan Weaver Invitational

Final Results

--- The Tennessee State women’s golf team finished 10th at the Jan Weaver Invitational on Saturday.  The tournament served as the last tune-up before the Ohio Valley Conference Championships.

Natalie Spicer, Paige Harlin, Morgan Rood and Savannah Szozda all scored for the Tigers during the final round. Spicer, Harlin and Rood all shot 87’s, while Szozda and Haleigh Riley each carded a 91.

After firing a pair of 85’s on day one, Harlin continued her consistent play with an 87 in the final round. The sophomore hit nine fairway and five greens as she averaged fewer than two putts per hole. On the par-5, 13th, Harlin hit an 8-iron to 10 feet of the flag and sank the downhill slider for birdie.

Riley had similar consistency as Harlin, recording a 91 after rounds of 92 and 90. The freshman notched five pars as she hit six greens and found 10 greens in regulation. On the par-5, 17th, Riley just missed chipping in from off the green for birdie, but settled for a tap in for par.

The Tigers will to Owens Crossroads, Ala. to take part in the OVC Championships on Apr. 17. The three day event will be played at the Hampton Grove Golf Course.
