Women's golf concludes play at Drake Invitational

Murray, Ky.  --- The Tennessee State women's golf team finished in 10th place at the Drake Creek Invitational hosted by Murray State.

Jamie Pierce led the Tigers with a score of 254 (T-46th) in the season opening tournament. She shot an 81 in the first round before carding an 82 and then a 91 in the second and third round. Marie Black also finished in the top 50. She finished in a tie for 49th with a score of 256 (82-84-90).

Sara Shoufler (59th) recorded a 275 while Bria Norris (61st) and Maya Billingsley (64th) rounded out the scorers for TSU with 283 and 302, respectively.   

As a team, Tennessee State shot 305 in the opening round before improving with a 337 in round two. TSU closed out the tournament by posting a score of 364 in the final round.

Murray State claimed the title with a score of 890 while Morehead State finished second (899). Eastern Kentucky rounded out the top three with a 923.

Women's golf will have a short break before returning to action, Sept. 18-19, at the Screaming Eagles Golf Classic hosted by Southern Indiana.
