Tigerbelles Earn Sixth-Place Finish at Asics Embry-Riddle Classic



DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. --- Powered by a 32nd place finish from freshman Rebekah Wynn, the Tennessee State women’s cross country team earned sixth at the Asics Embry-Riddle Classic on Saturday morning.

Wynn knocked nearly two minutes off her 5K time from the opening meet to clock in at 22:14.72 on Saturday. Senior Kayla Pryor also trimmed her time to 22:53.95 for 40th place.

As a team, the Tigerbelles posted 168 points for sixth while Saint Leo won the team competition with 32 points.

  • Redshirt freshman Kyla Odom showed improvement on the day, going from a time of 25:37.5 in the season opener on Sept. 2 to 23:38.23 on Saturday.
  • TSU’s fifth place finisher, Jasmir Spearman knocked off more than two minutes from her 5K at the Golden Eagle Invitational to post a 24:46.93 this week.
  • TSU was competing in the Asics Embry-Riddle Classic for the second year in a row.

TSU heads to the Austin Peay Cross Country Festival in Clarksville, Tenn. on Saturday, Sept. 23.
