Tigerbelles lace up for Saluki Open

Nashville, Tenn. - The Tennessee State University Tigerbelles will travel to Carbondale, Ill. to compete in the Saluki Open.

The meet, hosted by Southern Illinois, will be a two-day affair is set for Jan. 14-15 at the Student Recreation Center on the campus of SIU.

The competition will consist of 20 teams ranging from Division I to NJCAA and NAIA teams.

Teams set to compete include: Alabama State (M/W), Arkansas State (M/W), Arkansas-Pine Bluff (M/W), Austin Peay State (W), Belmont (M), Jacksonville State (W), Mississippi Valley State (M/W), Missouri State (W), Murray State (W), Southeast Missouri State (M/W), Southern Illinois (M/W), Alabama-Birmingham (W), McKendree (M/W), Bethel, (M/W), Hannibal-LaGrage (M/W), Lindenwood (M/W), Missouri Baptist (M/W), Missouri State and Rend Lake (M/W).

The Tigerbelles competed in Carbondale, Ill. last year at SIU's SASF Invitational with Martinique Guice and Gabrielle Todd finishing in the top ten in their events. RECAP...

Last week, the team continued their indoor season, after several weeks off their season opener at MTSU, hosting the annual Ed Temple Classic. Todd helped lead the 4x400m relay team to a second-place overall finish posting a time of 3:56.59. Guice finished third overall, second among collegiate entrees, in the long jump with a mark of 18-09.25 (5.72m). RECAP... Guice's jump is currently the best in the OVC on the season.

After a week off, the T-belles will next host the TSU Invite on Jan. 29 at the Gentry Center.
