Monday, March 28, 2011

Columbia, S.C. - Several Tigerbelles spotlighted Tennessee State University to close out the University of South Carolina's Weems Baskin Relays on Saturday.

Due to the weather, the shot put was cut short and the high jump was canceled.

Martinique Guice, Gabrielle Todd and the 4x400m relay team spearheaded the total team effort.

Guice guided TSU in the field events picking up her third straight and eighth career win in the long jump. She posted her best jump of the season with a mark of 19" 5.5 (5.93m). Guice's new mark keeps her at the top of the OVC Best List.

Todd, coming off an injury that sidelined her last week, finished second in the 400m. She improved her time with a personal best 56.31 seconds.

Todd joined teammates, Ashley Taylor, Kya Riley and Daniell Exum on the 4x400m relay to finish second overall with a time of 3:51.72. The time is the fastest on the season.

The Tigerbelles return to the track after a week off when they compete at home in the Boston Moon Classic. The competition will take place on Saturday, March 9.
