Tigerbelles' season begins at Christmas Invitational

Nashville, Tenn. - Track and field season is here and the Tennessee State University Tigerbelles will start their 2010-11 indoor campaign at the Middle Tennessee State University Christmas Invitational.

The meet is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 11, at the Murphy Center on the campus of MTSU. The women's weight throw will open the competition at 11 a.m. with the last event, the men and women's 4x400m relay, slated to start at 4:40 p.m.

Teams already on the list to compete include: Georgia Tech, Miligan, Alabama Birmingham, Austin Peay State and Western Kentucky.

The T'belles jump-started last year's season at MTSU with six finishes in the top ten. The 4x400m relay highlighted the team's overall performance with a third place finish. Kya Riley and Gabrielle Todd return this season from that quartet.

In the field events, eight-time OVC champion Martinique Guice was fourth in the long jump (5.42m) and fifth in the triple jump (11.12m). RECAP...

Tigerbelles will return to action when they host the Ed Temple Classic on Jan. 8.
