Tigerbelles pick up a pair of wins at TSU Invite

Nashville, Tenn. - The Tennessee State University Tigerbelles capped their last home indoor meet of the season with a couple of victories at the TSU Invite on Saturday.

More than 30 teams from Division I schools to track clubs, including a record number of participants, 814, competed inside the Gentry Center on the Wilma Rudolph track.

TSU recorded victories in the 4x400m relay and the long jump events.

The Tigerbelles closed out the meet with a first-place finish in the 4x400m relay slipping past Jackson State from 60m behind on the last leg to edge them at the tape.

The team of Gabrielle Todd, Daniell Exum, Kya Riley, and Ashley Taylor clocked in with a time of 3:55.10.

Todd and Taylor also placed in the top four in the open 400m. Todd finished second with her fastest time of the season at 56.56 seconds. Taylor rounded fourth with a time of 57.65.

In the field events, Martinique Guice won the long jump with her best mark on the season. She recorded a jump of 19-11.0 (6.07m), which is currently the best jump in the Ohio Valley Conference this year.

Teannah Holland finished fourth in the shot put and weight throw. She tossed 39-10.5 (12.15m) in the shot put and 48-07.50 (14.82m) in the weight throw.

The Tigerbelles will return to the track next week when they compete in the Middle Tennessee State Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 5, at the Murphy Center.
