Tigerbelles Dominate Field Events at the Boston-Moon Classic

Nashville, Tenn. – The final day of the 7th Annual Boston-Moon Track and Field Classic hosted by Tennessee State University ended with the women's track and field team capturing four first-place awards at the Edward S. Temple Track on Saturday in Nashville, Tenn.


The Tigerbelles finished with four first-place performances courtesy of a strong field outing. Martinique Guice won both the long jump (19’04.75”) and triple jump (37’08.00”) while placing second in the 100-meter dash with her fastest time of the season, 12.26 seconds.


Tanesha Campbell won the discus throw (136’01.00) to lead a top-three sweep for TSU. Ebonie Jackson finished second (129’07.00”) and Kathy Onwu placed third (126’ 10.00”). Onwu also won the shot put with a toss of 41’06.50” with Campbell taking third (41’01.50”).  Onwu also tallied third place in the javelin throw (102’08.00”).


Other Tigerbelles finishing second in their events include: Ashley Anderson – long jump (18’07.25”) and Rahab Kagaruki – 800-meter dash (2:18.16).


Lanika Horn and Jaleeca Jacobs took third in their events respectively. Horn finished in the triple jump with a leap of 37’03.50” and Jacobs completed the 400-meter dash at 1:00.04. The 4x400-meter relay garnered second at 3:59.91.


Next, the Tigerbelles will travel to Richmond, Ky. to compete in the Eastern Kentucky Open hosted by Ohio Valley Conference opponent Eastern Kentucky. The meet is scheduled for Saturday April 18.
