The Tennessee State University women’s basketball team will host Jefferson Street opponent Fisk University on Sunday, Dec.15. Game time is scheduled for 2 p.m. in the Gentry Center.

TSU dropped a 77-42, decision to No. 18 Arizona Thursday night. TSU was led in scoring by Jazmine Young’s 12 points. She was the only Lady Tiger to reach double-digits. TSU struggled to score in the contest and only shot 25.9 percent from the field. TSU shot its best percentage in the fourth quarter (46.2 %) and nearly matched Arizona point-for-point in the final period, 18-17.
ABOUT THE OPPONENT
Fisk is 2-12 overall. The Bulldogs are led by first year head coach Janine Davis, who led the NAIA in assist to turnover ratio during her senior year as a player at Fisk in 2014. Davis and assistant coach Stevonna Scott were teammates at Fisk. Senior guard Jayla Long is leading NAIA Division II is total steals (56) and is second in steals per game (4.7). Sophomore forward Ileah Chambly is fifth in the NAIA Division II in offensive rebounds per game (4.6).
Tennessee State will match up with Fisk for the 11th time in the series history with the Lady Tigers leading, 9-1. TSU has won nine straight after dropping the first meeting of the series in the 1977-78 season.
