The Tennessee State University women’s basketball team will play the final home game of the regular season on Saturday with a match-up against Eastern Illinois. Game time is set for 5:30 p.m. in the Gentry Center.
THE LADY TIGERS AT A GLANCE
Tennessee State is coming off a disappointing, 66-55, loss to SIU Edwardsville on Thursday. The Lady Tigers have dropped three straight and are 4-23 overall with an OVC mark of 4-11. TSU is 2-6 at home in league games.
Redshirt senior Tia Wooten leads the team in scoring with 13.2 ppg while sophomore Taylor Roberts averages 12.9 ppg. Redshirt sophomore Cebria Outlow (8.6 ppg) is the team’s third leading scorer. Wooten (6.9 rpg) and Jaden Wrightsell (6.7 rpg) lead TSU in rebounding.
As a team, TSU is averaging 58.8 ppg while shooting 33.7 percent from the field, including 22.1 percent from three-point range and 69.4 percent from the free-throw line. TSU is ranked second in the OVC in offensive rebounds (14.7), fifth in free-throw percentage (.694) and fifth in steals (8.6).
ABOUT THE OPPONENT
Eastern Illinois is 10-16 overall and 4-11 in the OVC. The Panthers are coming off a 98-57 loss to league leader Belmont on Thursday.
TSU and EIU will match up for the 43rd time in the series history with the Panthers leading, 28-14. TSU claimed the last meeting between the teams and has won three of the last four meetings against EIU.
