The Tennessee State University women’s basketball team will close out non-conference action and the year with a match-up at Ball State. Game time is set for 4:30 p.m. central in Worthen Arena.
THE LADY TIGERS AT A GLANCE
Friday marks Tennessee State’s fourth consecutive road game. The Lady Tigers are looking for their first win of the season. TSU is coming off a, 95-73, loss to DePaul on Monday night. Only playing once in the Gentry Center, 11 of TSU’s 12 games were away from the Lady Tigers home court.
Sophomore Taylor Roberts leads TSU in scoring with 16.2 points per game while Tia Wooten is averaging 13.0 ppg. Terrysha Banner rounds out the top three scorers with 5.9 ppg and Jaden Wrightsell pulls down a team-best 6.9 rebounds per outing.
As a team, TSU is averaging 59.4 ppg while shooting 33.4 percent from the field, including 23.8 percent from three-point range and 70.0 percent from the free-throw line.
ABOUT THE OPPONENT
Ball State (3-7) is coming off an 86-83 win over Western Kentucky on Dec. 16. The Cardinals average 60.8 points per game and are led in scoring by Oshlynn Brown’s 12.5 ppg. She is the only player averaging double-digits in scoring. 384 271 Ball State is shooting 38.4 percent from the field, including 27.1 percent from three-point range.
TSU and Ball State will match up for the third time in the series history with each team winning once. The Cardinals claimed last year’s meeting, 85-65, in the Gentry Center on Nov. 22 while the Lady Tigers’ win was a, 64-63, victory back in the 1986.
