GAMEDAY
The Tennessee State University women’s basketball will return to action on Friday with a road test at Troy. Game time is set for noon in Trojan Arena.

THE LADY TIGERS AT A GLANCE
Tennessee State dropped its second consecutive game to open the season after falling to Alabama A&M, 67-57, on Tuesday afternoon. Friday will mark the third straight road contest for TSU.

After two games, sophomore Taylor Roberts is leading the team in scoring with 14.0 points per game. Redshirt senior Lauren Elliott is also averaging double figures with 12.5 points per outing while sophomore Cebria Outlow is pulling down a team-best 7.0 rebounds per game.

The Lady Tigers have a mixture of experience and youth on this year’s squad with eight returners and eight newcomers. Tia Wooten and Taylor Roberts are TSU’s top scoring returners from a season ago. 

The Lady Tigers are led by second year head coach Jessica Kern.

LAST TIME OUT
After battling through the first three quarters, TSU struggled in the fourth and fell to Alabama A&M, 67-57, in T.M. Elmore Gymnasium.

Taylor Roberts led TSU with 16 points while Lauren Elliott added 15. Cebria Outlow grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds to go with eight points.

The score was tied heading into the fourth quarter but TSU was held scoreless through five and half minutes of action and ultimately got outscored, 17-7, in the frame.

ABOUT THE OPPONENT
Troy (1-1) is coming off a 72-52 win over Samford at home on Monday. Troy led by as many as 23 and posted 23 offensive rebounds that resulted in 23 second-chance points. The Trojans have now won 43 of the last 53 games on their home court. Sky’Lynn Holmes leads Troy in scoring with 13.0 ppg while Amber Rivers turns in 11.5 ppg. 

SERIES INFORMATION
TSU will meet Troy for the fourth time in the series history with the Trojans leading, 2-1. Troy claimed last year’s meeting, 95-66, in the Gentry Center. TSU’s only win was a 77-71 decision during the 2013-14 season.
