Tia Wooten and Taylor Roberts Named BOXTOROW All-Americans
Wooten and Roberts led TSU in scoring and rebounding in 2017-18

NASHVILLE --- Tennessee University women’s basketball forward Tia Wooten earned BOXTOROW First Team All-America honors while forward Taylor Roberts was selected to the Second Team, as announced on Monday.

Wooten and Roberts combined for 51.3 percent of TSU’s total points in 2017-18 and led the team in rebounding. The Lady Tiger duo also earned All-OVC First Team and Newcomer accolades, respectively.

Wooten, who had a stellar year for TSU, finished the season ranked second in the OVC in scoring with 21.2 ppg while pulling down a league-best 8.9 rebounds per outing.

The 6-0, forward also ranked 2nd in the OVC in offensive rebounds, 3rd in defensive rebounds, 10th in steals and 10th in free-throw percentage.  She finished the season ranked 9th in the NCAA in made free-throws, 12th in points per game and 12th in free-throw attempts.

A native of Memphis, Tenn., Wooten was named the OVC Player of the Week twice and was a two-time Sports Madness Player of the Week selection.

Roberts had a solid freshman season as a Lady Tiger. She was the team’s second leading scorer with 14.6 points per game and averaged 5.7 rebounds per outing.

The Oklahoma City, Okla. native was named OVC Freshman of the Week four times and finished her rookie season ranked in the top 20 in six OVC categories: 4th in free-throw percentage, 6th in steals, 7th in offensive rebounds, 9th in scoring, 11th in field goal percentage and 19th in overall rebounding.

This marks the first time since 2015 that TSU has had a student-athlete on the BOXTOROW All-America Team.
