GAMEDAY: The Tennessee State women’s basketball team continues its road swing with a contest at SIU Edwardsville, Saturday, Jan. 13. Game time is set for 2 p.m. in the Vadalabene Center.

THE LADY TIGERS AT A GLANCE: Tennessee State (3-11, 1-4 OVC) dropped a 66-59 decision to Eastern Illinois in overtime on Thursday night. The Lady Tigers are still looking for their first road win of the season.

Redshirt junior Tia Wooten is leading the team with an OVC best 21.2 points per game while freshman Taylor Roberts averages 15.7 points per outing. Jaden Wrightsell and Kaliya Griffin average 7.6 points per game. Wooten and Roberts also lead the team in rebounding.

As a team, TSU is averaging 68.1 points per game while shooting 37.5 from the field and 29.3 percent from three-point range. The Lady Tigers are shooting 72.8 from the free-throw line.

The Lady Tigers are under the direction of first year head coach Jessica Kern.

LAST TIME OUT: Tennessee State used a 13-0 run to take control of the game but went cold down the stretch in a disappointing, 66-59, loss to Eastern Illinois in overtime. TSU was outscored 23-9 in the fourth quarter and overtime period. Tia Wooten and Taylor Roberts led TSU with 18 points each while Wooten grabbed 11 rebounds for a double-double. Kaliya Griffin added 11 points.

ABOUT THE OPPONENT: SIU Edwardsville (7-9, 4-1 OVC) is most recently coming of a 72-55 los to Belmont. The loss snapped a four-game winning streak for the Cougars. SIUE is averaging 61.1 points per game while shooting 37.7 percent from the field. Lauren White leads the team in scoring with 14.0 points per game while Donshel Beck turns in 13.0 points per outing. 

SERIES INFORMATION: Tennessee State will match up with SIU Edwardsville for the 10th time in the series history with the Cougars leading, 6-3. SIUE claimed last year’s meeting 73-52 in Gentry Center.
