GAMEDAY: The Tennessee State women’s basketball team returns to action on Thursday, Nov. 30 on the road at Arkansas State. Game time is set for 7 p.m. in First National Bank Arena. TSU is looking for its first win of the season.    

THE LADY TIGERS AT A GLANCE: The Lady Tigers fell to 0-4 after suffering a 95-66 loss to Troy at home on Monday. The contest was the conclusion of a three-game home stand.

Redshirt junior Tia Wooten (22.3 ppg) and Freshman Taylor Roberts (17.3 ppg) lead the team in scoring while Maxine Beard (8.3 ppg) rounds out the top three scorers for TSU. Roberts (9.0 rpg) and Wooten (7.8 rpg) are the team’s leading rebounders.

After three games, TSU is averaging 70.2 ppg while shooting 37.8 percent from the field. As a team, the Lady Tigers are shooting 69.8 percent from the free-throw line while struggling from beyond the arc (.183).

The Lady Tigers are under the direction of first year head coach Jessica Kern.

LAST TIME OUT: Tennessee State committed 48 turnovers and saw the opponent score 56 points off the miscues in a, 95-66, loss to Troy. TSU held the advantage in rebounding, 51-46, while Troy outscored the home team, 54-30, in the paint. Tia Wooten led the Lady Tigers with 20 points to go with seven rebounds. Taylor Roberts came off the bench to post a double-double of 18 points and 12 rebounds. Maxine Beard also reached double-digits with a career-high 11 points.  

ABOUT THE OPPONENT: Arkansas State (2-3) is coming off an, 87-47, loss to Pitt. The Red Wolves have wins over Florida and OVC member UT Martin. ASU is averaging 61.4 points per game while shooting 34.0 percent from the field. Akasha Westbrook leads the team in scoring with 13.8 ppg while Jada Ford turns in 10 points per outing.

SERIES INFORMATION: TSU and Troy will meet for only the 4th time in the series history. TSU holds a 2-1 series lead and claimed the last meeting, 76-66, a year ago in the Gentry Center.
