The Tennessee State University women’s basketball team will close out the regular home schedule on Saturday with a match-up against SIU Edwardsville. The game, slated to tip-off at 6 p.m., will be the last time that lone senior Alana Morris will play in the Gentry Center.

Tennessee State is coming off a, 104-65, road loss to UT Martin on Monday. The loss dropped TSU to 10-16 (7-6 OVC) and moved the Lady Tigers to fourth place in the East Division. TSU has won five straight games at home.

The Lady Tigers, under second year head coach Larry Joe Inman, returned four letterwinners from last year’s squad and added eight newcomers, including seven freshmen, to the roster. TSU finished last season with an overall record of 13-15 and a 9-7 conference mark. In an Ohio Valley Conference preseason poll that was released in October, TSU was predicted to finish fifth in the East Division standings.
Tennessee State shot 46.3 percent from the field but turned the ball over 30 times in a lopsided, 104-65, loss to UT Martin on the road. Jayda Johnson led TSU with 15 points and seven rebounds while Chelsea Hudson had 14 points and five boards.
SIU Edwardsville (9-18, 5-9 OVC) has won two straight and four of its last five including its most recent win over, Murray State. The Cougars defeated the Racers, 73-61, on the road. SIUE is the only team that has defeated West Division leader UT Martin this season.
In the win over MSU, junior Allyssa Decker scored a career-high 20 points. She finished the week with 33 points while shooting 70 percent from the floor. Freshman Micah Jones added 14 while Ashley Capotoso scored 12.

TSU’s last win over SIUE was an, 81-71, victory on Feb. 8, 2011.
