Nashville --- For the second straight week, Tennessee State University women's basketball player Tayla Foster was voted the adidas® Ohio Valley Conference Freshman of the Week.
Foster received the award after averaging 24.5 points and 9.0 rebounds over Tennessee State's two games last week. She shot better than 50 percent from the field in both games while knocking down nearly 80 percent of her attempts from the free-throw line.
The 5-10,Forward has now extended her double-digit scoring streak to nine games and has posted double-figures in scoring 16 times this season.
She poured in a season-high 33 points and recorded her second double-double of the season with 11 rebounds in the win over SIU Edwardsville. She went 9-of-16 from the floor and 15-of-19 from the charity stripe while recording two steals against the Cougars.
Foster scored 16 points, all in the second half, and tallied seven rebounds at Austin Peay. She went 6-of-9 went from the field in the second half and finished the game with three steals.
The Madisonville, Ky. native is leading the team in scoring with 12.5 points per game while ranking 15th in the league in scoring and fourth in field goal percentage.
This marks Foster's second honor this season as she was voted the adidas® Ohio Valley Conference Co-Freshman of the Week, last Monday.
