CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. --- The Tennessee State Lady Tigers played league-leading Southeast Missouri almost even in the first half, but the Redhawks were able to expand their advantage in the second half on the way to posting a 74-52 Ohio Valley Conference women's victory Saturday night. TSU, which had played the Southeast team down to the wire in the first meeting between the two teams last month, trailed just 34-31 at halftime. However, Southeast kept the Lady Tiger offense in check in the second half as TSU scored just 23 points on 29 percent shooting (8-28.) Southeast Missouri (17-6, 11-1) extended its winning streak to 10 games. The Redhawks shot 53 percent for the game (24-45). Brandi Russia led Southeast with 21 points. Quanecia Fletcher led TSU (7-16, 4-8) with 16 points. Kendra Bailey added 14 points and just missed her third consecutive double-double with eight rebounds. The Lady Tigers, who saw a two-game OVC winning streak end, played their last regular season road game. TSU will close the regular season with a four-game homestand that begins Thursday night against Murray State.
