NASHVILLE --- Coming off a heart-breaking loss against the conference leaders on Thursday night, the Tennessee State Lady Tigers responded in a big way with a 55-49 win over Morehead State Saturday night. TSU (6-15, 3-7), who lost in the final seconds to Eastern Kentucky (60-58) on Saturday, went down to the wire again in their game with the Lady Eagles. TSU was trailing 49-48, but got a 3-point field goal from Leslie Dean with 1:13 remaining to take the lead. Quanecia Fletcher came up with a steal and the game-sealing layup with 20 seconds remaining. Kendra Bailey led the Lady Tigers with 22 points while Dean's final shot put her in double figures with 10. Both teams had their problems at the free throw line. TSU finished 14-30 while Morehead State was 12-25. The Lady Tigers had 27 offensive rebounds and finished with 52 total to hold a 12-rebound edge. Bailey completed the double-double with a game-high 14 rebounds. Morehead State (4-17, 2-8) was led by Jessie Plante with 11 points while Holly Williams scored 10.
