NASHVILLE --- Tennessee State University will honor the players and coaches from the school's Ohio Valley Conference men's and women's championship teams on Jan. 31 with a luncheon and also during TSU's doubleheader that night against Tennessee Tech. The TSU men's and women's squads will be celebrating their 10th anniversary this year of capturing the 1993-94 OVC titles. In addition, the 1992-93 men's team which won the OVC championship, will also be honored. TSU will host the luncheon that begins at noon at the Millennium Maxwell House Hotel. In addition, the teams will be recognized during halftime of the men's game against Tech in the Gentry Center. The doubleheader action begins at 5 p.m. with the women's contest. Tickets are on sale for the luncheon for $20 each and are available at the TSU Ticket Office in the Gentry Center or by calling (615) 963-5841. The men's two OVC Championship teams advanced to the first round of the NCAA Tournament, playing Seton Hall in 1993 and Kentucky the following year. The Lady Tiger team under the guidance of Teresa Lawrence Phillips participated in 1994 first round game, losing a tough overtime decision to Oregon State.
