TSU UPDATE: The Tigers hosted Evansville in Kean Hall Sept. 10 at 6 p.m. Making it's record 3-5, TSU fell to UE 3-0 (25-23, 25-23, 25-22).

ABOUT NEW ORLEANS: The Tigers defeated UNO for the first time in the series during its first home tournament when TSU would sweep all three visiting teams in 2017. Privateers Head Coach Millicent Van Norden coached Tennessee State Head Coach Donika Sutton at Alcorn State.

ABOUT SOUTHERN: The Jags advanced to the SWAC semifinals after a phenomenal season ranking third in the league in hitting percentage, first in blocks, second in digs and fourth in kills, creating a powerful defensive threat in the league.

ABOUT MERCER: Mercer returns two All-Freshman team honorees and six new signees after a successful season on the court and in the classroom, leading the SoCon Honor Roll for the fifth year in-a-row. The last time Big Blue took on the Bears, TSU won in five.

UP NEXT: Tennessee State will be back on the road headed to Florence, Ala. for a match against North Alabama. TSU hosted North Alabama earlier this season for an exhibition match and won 3-0. The game will take place Sept. 17 at 7 p.m. in Flowers Hall.
