QUICK HITTERS: Tennessee State volleyball hosts its last non-conference match of the regular season versus Middle Tennessee. The Blue Raiders visit Kean Hall for a 6 p.m. match Tuesday, Oct. 2. The match will be streamed on OVC Digital Network and live stats will be available via Statbroadcast.

Last year’s matchup between the teams ended in a 3-0 sweep of the Tigers in Murfreesboro. The Blue Raiders lead the all-time series against TSU 33-2. The last time Tennessee State beat MTSU was in 2016. Big Blue went 3-1 (25-23, 25-21, 21-25, 25-15) over the Blue Raiders in Kean Hall.

TSU UPDATE: Big Blue is 4-0 in Ohio Valley Conference play, marking the first time in program history the Tigers have started its conference slate undefeated. The Tigers closed out the previous weekend beating Jacksonville State 3-1 (25-23, 22-25, 25-23, 25-23) before defeating Tennessee Tech 3-1 (25-23, 16-25, 26-24, 26-24) Saturday afternoon. The Tigers improved to 2-4 in matches away from Kean Hall and 4-5 when pushed to four sets. Laken Te'o completed the weekend beating 

SCOUTING MTSU: The Blue Raiders step out of conference play, where the team is 0-3 in Conference USA  play to take on Tennessee State. MTSU’s key offensive hitters are Bailey Mason and Dora Peonia. Both have registered over 100 kills and average above a .180 hitting percentage. Middle Tennessee runs a 6-2 with setters in Taylor Hammill and Sarah Sumida. Brienna Tankesley holds down the backcourt with more than 220 digs, assisted by Bailey Mason who has dug up 100.

UP NEXT: TSU re-enters conference play at home this weekend hosting Eastern Kentucky this Friday, Oct. 5 at 6 p.m. in Kean Hall, followed by a match versus the Morehead State Eagles, Saturday, Oct. 6 at noon.
