Haley Hampton Signs Pro Contract with Iceland


NASHVILLE --- Haley Hampton (Mesquite, Texas), a 2016 graduate of Tennessee State and starter for the Tiger volleyball team, signed a contract to play her second professional season with ­­Blakdeild Afteleldingar in Reykjavik, Iceland. Previously, Hampton played for Pallavolo Spongano in Italy.

After transferring from Panola College in Carthage, Texas, Hampton immediately made an impact and ended up starting 50 of 61 matches as opposite and middle blocker for the Big Blue in the 2014 and 2015 seasons.

As a senior, she helped the 2015 team advance to the OVC Semifinals completing the season 16-14 overall.  In her two seasons as a Tiger, Hampton recorded the highest hitting percentages on the team, 559 kills, 155 total blocks, 80 digs and served up 31 aces.

  • Hampton was an offensive weapon in junior year racking up 290 kills in 31 matches played. In both seasons, she compiled a total of 559 kills.
  • The 5-10 middle-blocker led TSU with 64 blocks in her first season in 2014. 
  • In her junior season with the Tigers, Hampton put up 326.5 points, followed by 344.5 her senior season.
  • Hampton recorded a career-high eight service aces in her senior year against Austin Peay.
  • She posted season-high kills each year in matches against Tennessee Tech, 19 as a junior and 16 as a senior.
  • Hampton earned OVC Commissioner’s Honor Roll as a junior.
