Tigers Travel to UT Martin Tuesday

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee State University volleyball team will travel to the University of Tennessee-Martin on Tuesday night for an Ohio Valley Conference match.

The Tigers (8-15, 2-6 OVC) and the Skyhawks (10-12, 3-5 OVC) are slated to begin the match at 6:30 p.m. at the Skyhawk Fieldhouse. TSU will look to end a four-match losing streak while UT Martin is fresh off a straight-set victory against SIUE.

TSU has missed the presence of senior Taylor Swayzer in the lineup. In these last three matches that she has been absent, the team has an attack percentage of .095 and is getting 10.50 kills per set. Junior Haley Hampton has led the team in Swayzer’s absence with 35 kills and a .197 clip.

TSU is 12-33 against the Skyhawks but won their matchup last season at Kean Hall in four sets.

UT Martin has won three of their last five conference matches, beating SEMO, Morehead State, and SIUE. They are led offensively by Emily Keaton and her 3.11 kills per set. She also averages 2.75 digs per set and hits .213. Chelsea Bowles leads the team on defense with 3.92 digs per set.

The Skyhawks were picked 11th in the OVC Preseason poll.
