Wells Earns OVC Co-Offensive Player of the Week

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – After picking up two OVC wins last week the Tigers didn’t stop there, as junior Naomi Wells earned OVC Co-Offensive Player of the Week.

The Huntsville, Ala. native paced the Tigers attack last week posting 26 kills in the two contests, good for an average of 4.33 kills per set. Wells hit .345 from the field with just eight errors in the two contests. The senior also picked up five blocks and totaled 29.5 points during the week.

Against Tennessee Tech on Tuesday, Wells posted a team high 11 kills, while hitting .375 from the floor, all well committing just two errors on the attack. Wells returned to the court Saturday and put up another dominant performance against Jacksonville State with 15 kills and 13 digs for the junior’s ninth double-double of the season.

Defensively, Wells shined as well with five blocks including a four block showing against Tennessee Tech. Wells also dug out 20 digs, highlighted by a 13 dig performance on Friday.

This marks the second time Wells has won the honor, with the first coming on Oct. 14.

Wells shares the honor with Eastern Illinois’ Stephanie Arnold.

The volleyball team returns tomorrow when they travel to Clarksville, Tenn. to take on Austin Peay, with first serve set for 7 p.m.
