Volleyball hosts Morehead State Monday night

Nashville, Tenn. ---  The Tennessee State University volleyball team returns to action on Monday, Oct.3 at 6 p.m. against Morehead State in OVC action.

Tennessee State (8-5, 4-2 OVC) is coming off a, 3-1, win over Jacksonville State on the road Saturday afternoon. Shaquita Williams led TSU with 17 kills behind a .293 hitting percentage while Danielle Howell added 13. Britani Hathorn led the team with 24 digs as Terakka Walker posted 20. Rebecca Moudree (15), Erika Moss (11) and Calasia Williams (11) also registered double-digits in digs.

Morehead State (11-5, 6-0 OVC) sits at the top of the conference standings as the Eagles are undefeated in league play. MSU has won six straight and is most recently coming off a sweep over Eastern Illinois on the road.

Monday's match will mark the second meeting of the season between Tennessee State and Morehead State. MSU claimed the first match, 3-0, in the OVC opener.

Tennessee State struggled offensively in the contest as the Tigers only managed 26 kills behind a .058 hitting percentage. Morehead State tallied 43 kills and hit .280.

Shaquita Williams hit .304 and led TSU with nine kills. Terakka Walker registered 10 digs while Erika Moss recorded 18 assists.

Morehead State had two players to post double figures in kills led by Laura McDermott's 16. Ellie Roberson added 10 kills while Leslie Schellhaas (19) and Lindsey Roth (10) notched double-digit digs.

Monday's match, scheduled for 6 p.m. in Kean Hall, will feature the Aristocrat of Bands.
