Red hot Tigers prepare for important road trip

Nashville, Tenn. --- Volleyball prepares for an important road trip to Southeast Missouri State and Eastern Illinois. On Friday, November 5, at 7:00 p.m. the Tigers will face Southeast Missouri State in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. On Saturday, November 6, the Tigers will match-up against Eastern Illinois in Charleston Illinois at 2:00 p.m.

Tiger Recap
Shaquita Williams was voted OVC player of the week after recording 64 kills, 15 blocks and 74.5 points over the Tiger’s three matches last week. In the win over Tennessee Tech, Williams tallied a career best 28 kills to add to a .426 hitting percentage. Tennessee State defeated Eastern Kentucky (25-21, 18-25, 25-23, 25-19), Tennessee Tech (25-22, 25-16, 20-25, 20-25,17-15) and Jacksonville State (25-17, 22-25, 1925, 25-14, 15-11) last week and look to continue their win streak. 

Tiger Preview
The Tigers (6-9 OVC) have won three straight and are currently ranked seventh in the OVC standings.  In sixth place, just ahead of the Tigers stands Eastern Illinois at 6-8 in the OVC. Earlier in the season, TSU defeated EIU 3-1 (25-18, 26-24, 15-25, 25-20) before recording a victory over SEMO in a five-set battle (25-21, 21-25, 32-30, 28-25, 16-14). Santia Sanders led TSU in kills over both matches while Kamille King paced the team with 37 digs (4.11 dig/s). 

Tigers vs. Redhawks (3-11 OVC; 6-19 overall)
The Redhawks lead the overall series between the two teams 22-4. After picking up only its third OVC win of the season against Eastern Kentucky last week (25-17, 13-25, 25-20, 10-25, 15-12) last week, the Redhawks were swept by their league rival Eastern Illinois on Tuesday. EIU defeated SEMO in straight sets (25-12, 25-16, 25-14). The Redhawks did not have any players to post double-digits in kills while Kelly Benacka led with 17 digs. 

Tigers vs. Panthers (6-8 OVC; 13-13 overall)
The overall record between the Tigers and the Panthers stands at 36-4 in favor of the Panthers. Eastern Illinois is coming off of a 3- win over Southeast Missouri last night. The Panthers defeated the Redhawks in three straight sets (25-12, 25-16, 25-14) and in doing so moved back into sixth place in the OVC race.
