NASHVILLE --- Tennessee State senior volleyball player Katrelle Armwood has been named Ohio Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Week for her performance in four matches this past week.
Armwood, a libero/outside hitter from Durham, N.C., is in her fourth season in the program. The honor is the first OVC Player of the Week award for the 5-8 athlete.
Armwood recorded 82 digs for Tennessee State last week. She had 69 digs in the UAB Tournament as the Lady Tigers went 2-1 with victories over Southeastern Louisiana and Louisiana-Monroe and the lone loss coming to unbeaten and host UAB. Armwood tallied a match-high 34 digs in the win over Southeastern Louisiana.
The OVC honors an offensive and defensive player of the week during the course of the season. The honor is the first since former Lady Tiger Jennifer Corral was honored during the 2003 season.
