In front of a boisterous and noisy crowd, the Tennessee State Lady Tiger Volleyball team (4-7, 0-0 OVC) snapped its five-game skid on Tuesday night with a 3-1 win over crosstown rival David Lipscomb. TSU took games one and two from the Lady Bison with scores of 30-24 and 30-27, respectively, before Lipscomb came to life. Game three saw Lipscomb take its first lead of the match. Led by Lindsey Rutherford, the Lady Bison went on to take game three, 30-28. Egged on by the enthusiastic fans, the Lady Tigers rallied to take game three, 30-26. Senior Jennifer Corral (Thousand Oaks, Calif.) returned to the lineup after a three-match absence and contributed 17 kills and nine digs. Sophomore Thereza Wright (El Paso, Texas) recorded 12 kills and rookie Krystie Kaukola (Fairfax, Minn.) notched 13 kills. Sophomores Catherine Armwood (Durham, N.C.) and Jade Cabell (Springfield, Tenn.) and Kaukola all recorded two service aces apiece. The Lady Tigers return to action on Sept. 26 as they enter Ohio Valley Conference play with a match against Jacksonville State. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
